I marked some messages in the middle of a thread unread, then marked the first few in another in similar fashion. Went back and unmarked in the middle of the one, then back and successfully marked the other read. Is this what you mean. When you say several unread threads, does it mark the first 'finite number' then fail on 'finite number'+1, or just for 'random number' then 'random number'+1.
