Though the log said something about a self-signed certificate (also I do
not see which TLS implementation would try to set up a connection without
specifying any certificate?). How exactly would the server send no
certificate?

The other situation is much more interesting:
- the certificate dialog flashes and disappears
- the log says TLS handshake has failed...and completed successfully. What is
this?
21.07.2011, 10:27:04: IMAP - Connecting to IMAP server imap.1und1.de on
port 993
     21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - Initiating TLS handshake
    >21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - Certificate S/N: 2456C892, algorithm: RSA
(512 bits), issued from 7/20/2011 2:44:51 PM to 7/15/2031 2:44:51 PM, for 1
host(s): imap.1und1.de.
    >21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - Owner: EN, imap.1und1.de.
    >21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - This certificate is self-issued.
!21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - TLS handshake failure. Invalid server
certificate (The CA Root certificate is not trusted because it is not in the
Trusted Root CA address book).
     21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - TLS handshake complete
     21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - Connected to IMAP server (imap.1und1.de)
    >21.07.2011, 10:27:05: IMAP - IMAP server ready H mimap5 87367

- IMAP works none the less (does TheBat! ten revert to unencrypted mode?)

Thank you,
