Hi Tony, I know very well how IMAP works :-)
However, the server couldn't tell TheBat that the messages were deleted, because access to the server was denied the minute my account got deactivated. The scenario you describe would happen if the account was still active, but the folder contents were deleted. Then, of course, TB would delete the local folder contents as well. In my case, the account became deactivated, so TB couldn't connect and therefore never got any information like "folders are empty". In fact, at some point I changed the domain to something invalid and told TB to stop trying to synchronize, as all I needed was access to the local copy of the messages. This local copy is definitely still there, or else the account's MAIL folder wouldn't be over 1 GB in size. To me it seems like TB did the following when updating from v4 to v5: - new cache files were created, all messages were re-downloaded (which in my case resulted in empty folders, as access to the server wasn't possible) - the old cache files stay on disk but are not used anymore. So most IMAP users should now have their old cache files on disk, eating up lots of space despite not being used. Good job, Ritlabs!
