> Have you tried importing the messages from the TBB files? Tools/Import
Just out of curiosity I tried it, went back to v5 and chose Tools/Import/TBB: The messages get read, it says "2913 mails imported" or so, but they appear nowhere. It does not even ask me which folder I want to store them to, and they don't appear in either the folder I selected or the one they were from (in the inactive account). Bummer. And slowly I'm finding out more: The difference in file/folder structure between v4 and v5 is as follows: In v4 the cache files (*.TBB, *.TBN) are located directly in the MAIL\[accountname] folder. In v5 the arey located in MAIL\[account name]\IMAP. So for my inactive account I created the IMAP folder (which didn't exist, probably only gets created once messages are downloaded). Then I copied (well, created a symlink) the cache files into the IMAP folder. Voila, all messages are there, even in v5. What does this mean? I can't believe it, but the re-downloading of all IMAP messages when upgrading from v4 to v5 is not due to a different cache format or anything like that, it's simply because the cache file location was moved into a sub-folder! And instead of moving the files there, TB makes you download all messages again! And also makes you lose your folder synchronization settings. For nothing! On top of that all the old files stay on your hard drive. This is so ridiculous. Tons of GB of Internet bandwidth wasted, plus filling people's hard drives for no reaon. In my opinion, whoever is responsible for that should be fired. I just freed 8 GB of hard drive space by deleting duplicate cache files!! Ticket created: https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=9054
