The main reason I use IMAP is the ability to have two computers with the same 
messages on both, all sent messages on both, all messages I have read marked as 
read, etc.  If you only use one computer then no big deal.

If you require you can set-up an archive account in TB! and move all the old 
messages there. The archive account can be local.
