There is a bug in the HTML editor colours: if you change the colours of some 
words, the text following those words will be coloured in theme style: with 
ChocoDark theme, I made a message with text "normal red normal", and coloured 
the word "red". TB produced the following HTML:

  normal <span style=" color: #ff0000;">red<span style=" color: 
#ffffff;">&nbsp;normal<br>

Notice the color: #ffffff there - that shouldn't be there at all, TB should've 
produced something like

  normal <span style=" color: #ff0000;">red</span> normal<br>

But I haven't been able to get TB to set the background colour automatically 
(only by setting it explicitly, though in that case it properly closes <span> 
tags).
