Allie, this is far too complicated and not necessary. When I invoke
the ConCen manually, I obviously want to watch it (better than Str
Trek, actually).

OTOH When I'm composing an email and the ConCen starts automatically,
I obviously want to continue typing my mail - but I want to know the
ConCen is active, so a status bar showing that it is there, is enough.
I can click on it if I want to. I'm not asking for anything fancy.

This morning, I had set the Center to "Hide" (following last night's
postings of some gentle readers), thinking I don't need the
disruption. Suddenly the modem began freaking out, especially the TXD
and RXD LED's, and I was close to panic and pulling the plug when I
remembered what I had done. OK, Options / Preference / Show: and there
it was, checking as it was supposed to.

Excurse into cyber security: Unless you are really sure that you
cannot have trojans on your machine, you should watch the LED's. Check
out the DDOS attack on http://grc.com (do take a look) - hundreds and
thousands of people have these IRQ-bot style trojans unkowingly on
their computers and enable the cyber terrorists to shut down any site
at will. Do you want to be part of this? Also, a special kind of
trojans are the keyloggers. Do you want to broadcast your passwords to
these people? Even if you have a firewall and run AV and anti-trojan
software: like with viruses, you can be "hit" with a new trojan at any
time. Why think you are immune?

I switched back to show "Automatically". While typing this particular
message, the ConCen came up three times.

Thomas.
