I wouldn't call "sucks" a technical term, although I don't like SuSE
either. ;-)

But that is more of a personal preference than anything else. I can only
find one reason against SuSE: The optimisation of their distribution for
KDE. IMHO KDE is a huge and slow GUI and I still prefer Gnome or
something even lighter. I don't know if this has changed, but it was
true for version 7.1.

Personally, I'd recommend Mandrake or Redhat for a beginner. A (*much*)
more experienced user could also use Debian, but a beginner should stay
away from this distribution, it's frustrating (I tried :-).
