Thread your messages.
Pick a thread where all messages are read. Now mark any single message
unread and see what happens to the rest of messages. For the rest of
messages the message flag remains unread, however, the text for every
message changes to the 'unread' state as defined in the colour groups.
This is by design in that it's a means for the user to know that there
are unread messages within a collapsed thread. When you expand the
thread, you easily find the unread message as is indicated by the
message flag.
If you don't thread your messages you'll not see the effect, Ken is
referring to.
