I just did an "IMAP" filter since I always wind up ctrl+shift+del'ing IMAP threads. (not a personal thing, I just don't use IMAP at home, don't need to learn it, and am stuck with Outlook at work).
Anyway, if we cleaned up the subject wording, everybody could just filter out whatever they are not interested in. e.g. if i put 'beta IMAP smiley' in the subject I'd never see this on the return. Oh come to think of it it is too complicated. I would wind up trashing a message called "something besides IMAP."
