I mentioned both companies for such idiocy. BTW, the smart move by Daimler-Benz was to give money to Mr Hayek to come up with a small city car [hopefully someone gets the pun in this sentence]. The stupid idea was to make it too expensive, buy Hayek out, and now come up with a bigger four-seater, which is essentially an expensive Mitsubishi Colt (I think it was the Colt). Mercedes lost image and credibility over their ventures into areas that aren't associated with the brand.
