In this instance no. I didn't have to be clearing caches of all problem folders. I ended up clearing the cache for only one of them and the problematic connections continued anyway until things eventually settled down. I think Johnathan's theory of TB! trying to aggressively catch up with what has happened with the various folders since I last used it, is the more plausible explanation.
