Because you can work faster if the opened file has already the original file name. You can edit/store it immediately with the application which was started when you clicked the attachment. With the actual solution you have to store the file in a directory - then you have to go to this directory and you have to search for the file. Then you can start your application and open the file - takes more time... And also the configuration that an attachment is saved directly in a directory is not very comfortable. Then you are filling up this directory with all the files you get.
