Hi,

MS> great!! Another final version full of long known bugs! I can't
MS> wait until we have 4.0 Final, buggy as 3.5 Final but then with an
MS> upgrade fee. It's like Microsoft where I also do betatesting. You
MS> have a timetable and follow it, regardless of what should be done
MS> before releasing the software.

<veryveryvery(!)biggrin>

I couldn't agree more in any way.

Let's sum up v3.5 for a moment:

- The ControlCenter malfunctions (AVs, "vanishes", opens and closes
wrongly or not at all, looses track of its connections), even if it
did in v3.01.

- The POP-Dispatcher is broken, even if it wasn't in v3.01.

- The Search function gives AVs on some systems, even if it didn't in
v3.01.

- The Customize function gives AVs, false display (empty dialogs,
wrong buttons) and generally undesired reactions (folder auto-width) -
there wasn't such a thing in v3.01.

Even if not all defects show up at every installation, that doesn't
leave much that is working at all, does it?

Moreover,

- IMAP doesn't work even as bad as in v3.01, but worse.

- The new look is - in my very humble opinion - much inferior to
v3.01's simple presentation which already gave all the needed data but
didn't obfuscate it with colour themes in which you can select every
single colour nuance - except the very one you would like to change or
set back to v3.01's colours.

- The memory consumption has worsened, if anything.

- The editor (MicroEd) still has the enter-bug (some already tried to
make me understand that this would be a feature, but even those
gentlemen had to agree that it is a hinderance, not a benifit).

And then, last of all, we come to the "common bugs" that are present
in each version of every program, where TheBat certainly makes no
exception:

- In v3.01, in "Setup columns" in the "browse folder"-window there was
the option "Auto width". In v3.5, it is no more. Since I'm using the
same messagebase on different machens, one of them with a 21" display
and one with a 17" one, I constantly have to resize columns. v3.01 did
it automatically. Am I here at last allowed to call it a bug? Or did
the option move to another place where I haven't been able to locate
it yet?

Only one thing I don't agree, and that's your comparison with
Microsoft. I have contacted MS just recently. The matter was resolved
in very few days to my fullest satisfaction. RITs support doesn't have
a prayer here. They aparently need years just to notice something's
wrong. That's why the time one could universally recommend TheBat is
long gone. TheBat used to have a fine, almost unparalleled reputation
among similar programs both for its capabilities, its safety and its
reliability. It wasn't easy, but RIT has finally managed to kill that
reputation - the capabilities would be fine if they worked, to trust a
program this unstable would be a bit presumptuous, and about the
reliability - well... Well.
