Alto was talking about the GUI of what ever operating system. And the fact that a GUI only makes sense when every application on that system is handled similar in it's basic functions (shortcuts, menu entries, dialog and window structure ...). That is the fundamental design idea behind a GUI! That's the secret why MacOS or RiscOS still deliver the better overall user (or usage) experiance. And Linux (or very other Unix) still sucks on the the Desktop. -- With best regards Lars Sölter The Bat!
