Just to add a little more confusion to all of this.

Using the same message, so I get the three tabs mentioned above in the
quoted text.

I select the '1.msg' tab and it is displayed with RTV. If while on this
tab I now select to view 'RFC-822 headers', the headers of my original
message are displayed. But, they are displayed with PTV and _only_ the
headers are displayed, the text message below is not.

Now, in this type of messages the 'Report.txt' and '1.msg' are available
as icons in the attachments pane. What happens if I, for example, double
click on the '1.msg' icon? Yes, a folder view window is opened and the
message is displayed. But, guess what! It is now displayed with _PTV_. And
further to that, if I now select 'RFC-822 headers' on the folder view
window message pane, the headers are displayed and the message text _is_
displayed just below the headers (all using PTV).

But there is more. If I set RTV as my preferred and select any text
message it is obviously displayed using RTV. What happens now if I
select 'RFC-822 headers'? You guessed it, both headers plus message body
below are displayed _with_ RTV.

So, if headers, body and headers+body can be displayed by both PTV and
RTV, why those 'automatic' or 'forced' changes some times?

As you can see, this all very consistent.
