Hi Szabolcs, --On Saturday, January 07, 2006 6:29 PM +0100 you wrote in part:
I'd like to inquire if there are any plans to support SPF (Sender Policy Framework) or DomainKeys in The Bat? Or is there a 3rd party plugin that supports these technologies?
the only thing an email client can do is visually show you if the email was verified or not, e.g. Yahoo's web email which does this.
Yahoo, Gmail etc. already signs messages with domain key signatures, SPF entries are becoming commonplace in DNS, so in my opinion it would be cool if The Bat! could verify e-mails, too.
it is up to the receiving email server to verify SPF, DK, or DKIM not the client. DK and DKIM, as well as SPF require the server to go out to DNS and get the key and/or policy txt records. IMO, it is not the place for an email client to do this, but the server.
I refer you to <http://antispam.yahoo.com/domainkeys> for a visual reference and explanation of what the receiving server does.
