I'm out of my depth with this. I just sent the suggestion as a "shot in the dark." I have great empathy with you. I had a hard time when I first moved down to Nashville. I was still on dial-up, but had been forced to change ISPs. It took the owner of the server nearly a week to sort the entire thing out with me. On that POP3 account, I had to put the server's address in numbers, both for SMTP and for receiving mail. I had to check "Require Secure Authentication" in the SMTP Authentication dialogue.
