I just dont see, that with intelligent macro handling why is it
necessary?

If I would provide a program with a macro, character by character, I
would understand it. But if I send the whole text to it... "Hey, there
is no such macro as 4%, so I just display it...". Or not? I am
developing softwares, I dont see the problem with this.
