"Delphi 7" (initial version) did contain bugs in the Code Optimizer and Borland fixed them in "Update 1 for Delphi 7", but introduced new bugs (in Compiler) in this update. If we were using Delphi 7 without updates, then The Bat! worked propely (but without Code Optimization for size and speed), if we did use "Update 1" then OTFE didn't work.
