I'm not sure whether we are veering into semantics or philosophy, but
I would consider it "professionally unacceptable" in a way to leave
one's marks in other people's registry, regardless of whether they
find out or not.

"Can I use your computer? I won't change anything, my email program is
completely on this USB stick." And then I do change something in the
registry. What's embarrassing is that I broke my word. Philosophy of
ethics doesn't require them to notice it, so I disagree with the
definition above in this respect.

Call it a bug if you want, because it doesn't work as expected. I
would expect Voyager to leave no traces.
