Hi Everyone, I just now had a data write error to my 40 GB external USB hard drive. I have not had that before. It occurred in the midst of a mail backup cycle for TB. It said something like "data overload," or something to that effect. I could not shut down TB, and I couldn't even "escape" using <ctr-alt-del>. I finally had to use a hard reset using the power button.
After the pc restart, and wondering if it was a drive or USP problem, I then used my regular backup program, Backup4all 3, to follow its orders to back up ALL mail from my mail programs. The backup took place flawlessly! TB mail was part of that backup file, which is compressed. Finally, I then tried another backup within TB - and again, it said something about a data overload (or words to that effect) and I got another lockup of TB. This time, I could finally get TB to "die" using <ctr-alt-del> and I didn't have to reboot the pc. I have no idea what could cause this, but it is repeatable behavior for backup now in TB. Again, I have never seen it before in TB (or any other mail program that offers a backup function). For now, I will not ask TB to schedule a backup automatically, and I will use Backup4all 3 exclusively to back up all mail from my former mail programs (Outlook. OE 6, Eudora, etc., as well as TB). Can anyone confirm this? Possibly someone with an external USB 2 hard drive. -- Take care, Bob mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me." This is our function, our challenge, our fulfillment - to accept, enjoy and share.
