And Douglas Adams might have profited (he sounds brilliant) from
reading some of the works of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, S.J. His
works in the 40's and 50's were banned by church authorities but later
recognized as brilliant and re-admitted to the "ok" category.
As a result of seeing your quotes, I have put his book, "The Ultimate
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, on my wish list at Amazon.
