No Mr. Luce I am NOT being told that, and I do not appreciate the

So are you inferring that most Members who ask questions on these Lists
are irresponsible? After all, your statement implies that if you "check
the help, read the FAQ and even search the mailing list archives", there
will be no need to ask questions.
Users who are new not only to TB! but to the Internet in general, will in
all likelihood not even know what an archive is, let alone how to access
and search it. For them, understanding TB!'s Help File on a first read is
a daunting task to say the least. Those are the Members we have to be
patient with, and show some understanding.
I feel it more helpful if instead of using that terrible acronym, you
actually quote the relevant section of the Help File, FAQ, or a thread
subject with which to search the archive. Anything but the acronym!

You are missing the point. That feature is not used by any other Mail
Client that I am aware of, and is most unappreciated on other Mailing
Lists. The criticism that Wie experienced is why that feature should not
be a default setting.

The other side of that argument of course, is that it could just as easily
be turned on if desired.
