Hello Thomas and Marck Problem solved. It's the bottom line in the message editor window that is the key. If I change the sending account here (the right hand one of the three in the middle), it works and gets queued in the appropriate outbox so that the send does not fail.
I now wonder what the point is of being able to select an account at all on the "from" line itself. I like The Bat, otherwise I wouldn't have paid for it. It is in fact now my primary email client, but I still haven't moved quite everything from Eudora yet. Thanks very much for the help.
