Ahhhhhh, that explains why it didn't sound familiar. I dropped out of
Anime before NGE came out. Pretty much anything post-SM does nothing for me.
Tenchi Muyo, Miyazaki films and Visions of Escaflowne are about the only
exceptions. Then again, it did take me most of VoE to "hear" that the chant
of the battle music was a bunch of Japanese guys repeating in a deep tone,
"Esca.... Flow-ne" dundundundundundun "Esca..... Flow-ne." :)
