I used a similar trick for many years even in the green tube displays
to
1. not being auto logged off from my mainframes/minis when visiting a
user,
and
2. to prevent them messing with my machine while I wasnt at it.
it was running and nobody could acess my system unless they knew how to
and the users in those days didnt have a clue.
