Yes, that's all there is to it. Apart from discussion list mail,
my personal mail, though filtered to about 10 different folders, is a low
enough volume per day to easily manage the mail coming in via one folder.
It's tedious to have to open ten different folders to read one or two
messages from each. Worse, if you have to jump from account to account.
Virtual folders would make this painless. I could create a virtual
folder which displays all unread messages from designated folders which
may be selected using the virtual folder setup applet. If you look at
View|Display|Advanced filtering, simply including the entire folder tree
across accounts for selection in whatever combination the user wishes
would create a great applet for setting up virtual folders.
At the moment advanced filtering applet acts only on a perfolder
basis. Making it able to work on multiple folders is all that's needed.
It's just that the results need to be displayed somewhere and this is
where the virtual folder comes in.

I use it and it's a nice demonstration of mail from multiple folders being
displayed in a common, virtual list, which is all a virtual folder is
about.
