Thanks very much for the detailed reply.

Sorry it's taken me a while to answer and to thank you; the
information was complicated and needed me to put aside some time
to digest it!

I had a bit of trouble creating the copy of the "Open" command,
and I became somewhat nervous of messing things up. I tried the
following approach to get TB! to open *.doc files with WordView,
and it seems to have worked.

Would you be able to tell me if I shouldn't have done this?...
:-)

I went to the "File types" dialogue in Explorer, copied the "open"
command line from a file type that I knew opened into WordView from a
double-click in TB! (the "enriched" file type was the one that I
picked).

I then went to the "Microsoft Word Document" file type on the list,
selected "edit" for the "open" command, deleted the command line
pointing to Word, and pasted in the command line to WordView from the
step above:

     "C:\Program Files\WordView\Wordview.exe" "%1"

I unchecked the "Use DDE" option.

Things seem to work OK...is that approach acceptable?

Once again, thanks for the help,
