I think The Journal and DTSearch are quite different programs. DTSearch is 
an indexing search tool. You don't have to enter any data into it, just 
tell it which folders or drives to index, then use its searching options 
to find text. It will search in text, binary files, PDF, graphics and 
other formats. I've used it daily for the past couple of years to check 
through millions of words of work-related stuff on my hard drives, 
including mail archives of course.
