That is why in the system I put forth months ago there were two details
that Allie may not have put in.

1: Messages are marked as read and moved to a spam folder.

This prevents legitimate messages from being trashed. Filtering through a
series of subjects looking for legit subjects, or from fields for legit people
is easier than the reverse.

2: There is a filter which stops futher filtering on mail that is sent to you
from people who /might/ BCC you.

The list of people who would BCC you is quite small. In the well over two
years I've operated this filtering system I have had to include less than 5-6
people on the stop list. Meanwhile it has stopped 5-6 legit spam per day.

I once did the math and figured that I was getting greater than a 99.95%
positive hit rate with less than a 0.001% false hit rate. Since it is my eyes
and my decision on what gets trashed and what doesn't, I know I haven't missed
any legit mail and the spam that has made it into my in folder has
dramatically decreased. That is better than any other system that anyone
might devise with relatively very little work.
