You've probably tried this, but have you tried deleting the
association for .EML files? Just do what you would to change the
.EML file type, but instead of editing it, delete it.
Or you can try changing the .EML file type to open in TheBat.exe
I'm not sure if that will work, but it might be worth a shot.
