There are a couple of cases to look at,
1) both your machines are offline when you go on a trip. In this
case, you don't have to worry about changing the settings. TB will
not delete messages that arrived in your server mailbox more than a
couple of days ago. It will delete messages that TB thinks has been
in there for more than a couple of days. What does this mean? TB
doesn't know about the messages unless it has been checking the
server. So if you go on a week-long trip on March 20, and you get a
message on March 21, then you check your mail on March 27, TB will
not delete the message from the server until a couple of days after
March 27. To be doubly sure, you can always set the computer that
you check second (after a trip) to be the one that deletes messages
from the server after x days.
Case 2) One computer is online and checking mail while you're away.
Easy solution is to have the computer that is offline doing the
deleting. Leave the other computer set so it never deletes anything
off the server unless you are using the Mail Dispatcher.
Case 3) Both computers are online and checking mail while you're
away. This one isn't a problem, since both will have a copy of the
message before deleting anyway. Assuming there are no crashes with
one of the computers.
