I posted the following to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in reply to Tracers comments:

Off course, if like me, you have Notepad open everything that doesn't have
an association, then as soon as you delete the .eml class entry from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, eml files are now opened with Notepad. Even if you then
associate eml files with TB! they open as an attachment still.
