Hi Simon,
On 16 March 2000 at 06:08:39 GMT +0000 (which was 06:08 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points:

I will allow this transgression since I actually have an answer ;-).

This was one of the 3 reasons for which I moved the hosting of the
silverstones.com domain from Force9 to Cheapnet about 2 years ago.
Although I liked the Force9 attitude the service had mysterious
outages and black holes for which there was never a technical
explanation. They were too big to allow the real technicians to talk
to the customers. The third (and main) reason, FWIW, is that I paid
extra to get an SMTP feed which they finally admitted (after 3 months
of sporadic and *lost* mail) they were unable to operate reliably.
So - the light I can shed is that it is a known F9 quirk.
Of course, it's nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that F9 name
all of their servers after british booze <g>.
Aside from those three flaws, I still think F9 are essentially a good
ISP.
