You do know, I hope, that you can turn off the spelling and grammar
checking, as well as the "auto format as you type" that changes the
format of text when you don't want it to?

Word was very much finished, except for long filename handling, around
version 2. It was no good as a desktop publisher, but it *STILL* isn't
any good as a desktop publisher. Since word hit its peak as a
word-processor around version 2, it's only logical that Micro$oft has
now updated it to around version 9 (Office 2000).
