Do you have to close and reopen the ticker also?
Another option would be to leave it open and open another one (which
I just did), but I think I shut down the ticker and reopened it
first.

This requires a 3rd party hot key assignment app? The key key
assignment would be simply to replace double clicking on any
selected object? (My logitech 3 button track balls do that but the
old mechanical one I have here has settled into a vertical only
mode, so I'm using the original IBM 2 button rodent). If so, I
assume all I'd have to do wopuld be to make the ticker the active
window (put it up front). BTW, if I do that now, in order to go back
to this message I have to put another app's window over it first.
