p> If it's a hidden share ie the drive isn't browse-able unless the admin
p> knows the share name, Wouldn't that suggest that is exactly the reason
p> you can't reach the path.
Correct, that's why I was asking to put a "typing" field in, so you
could key it in directly, since the browse-only interface doesn't
allow this.
p> I'm thinking that is an NT /98 microsoft
p> networking share shortcoming.
Nope, the fact that browsing to the location is required, since the
browsing is actually doing what I want (although I wouldn't expect
Windows to do what I want ever).
p> So... I wonder....
p> What Operating Systems's are involved?
p> What Protocols are you using... TCPIP, NETBUI, IPX?
Not that it matters, but it's Win98 and over TCP/IP.
p> Have you tried
p> Machinename//TBM$ ?
Yes, if I change the registry directly (which is what I did and why I
feel there should be a UI change to reflect this need) it works just
fine.
p> Have you tried "mounting" that folder And THEN telling the bat where
p> it is located?
Don't want to mount, because I don't want to "require" that the
machine is around. UNC is much easier.
p> Have you tried a regular MSNetwork share with say a user password instead?
p> Like $TBM ?
Could have a user password, but what I've got is better for me.
p> I don't disagree, the "Mail Root" ought to be able to be set without
p> a reinstall, perhaps RIT will put something in the "Options?"
Actually I did do a bit of registry editing to force the mailroot back
to \\laptop\tbm$\ and then deleted all of the account-dir entry
strings (the text, not the keys) and everything was kosher.
Actually it seems to work better with mail-root set to the laptop
share, but I still have problems if the connection goes away (in a
Windows networking sense) because TB! doesn't seem to do what it takes
to make a network connection to a UNC path.
p> There's no need to start calling me a bloat warrior...
Didn't, just made a note for all who jump on any UI enhancement as
being "bloating" when in reality UI enhancements typically add very
little code. It's full-blown features (aka newsreaders and HTML
display) that add significant amounts of code.
p> I might have got upset over the last topic we discussed, but then
p> after thinking about it, I didn't need to vent it at you. However,
p> that also doesn't give you full rights to keep taking swings at me.
Not swinging. Please followup in private if you wanna discuss that.
Other above stuff is of moderate relevance to the list. ;)
