...it was not the best experience I've had with TB.

There seem to be annoying popups all over the place and no
option (yet?) to disable them or at least have them appear
only when requested.

  * There was one at the lower right that seemed to
tell me how many messages were in a thread or
folder -- but the numbers rarely ever matched
the thread or folder my mouse was over or that
    I had selected.
  * There was one that first appeared when I hovered
over someone's picture that showed me some other
message content. The message content popup would
reappear if TB thought I was hovering over a message,
but only the briefest pause was necessary to trigger
it. When when expanded to what seemed to be its
largest size, it still cut off the right hand end
of every line of the message being displayed.
  * The first tooltip that came up when I hovered over
the 'REPLY' button contained text like "Send queued
mail" and looked different than all other tooltips
that appeared. The first one looked "standard" and
all of the others looed custom, with the same
background and font that I have set for the defaults
for plain text message viewing. Also, the tips
seemed confused about whether they should be visible
or not, fading in/out of existence apparently at
    random.

I also immediately lost the drop-list that belongs on
the 'Create new message' button that shows all of the
addresses I want listed there.

Was there a special procedure for installing 5 over 4?
Am I missing something else? I don't use any of the
"fancy" features, but I generally expect the most basic
things to work.
