I don't know why adding the file to the exceptions list solves the problem, but it has. Moreover, another computer in the house that points to The Bat files on the primary computer continued to produce the "stream write" error messages, even after I fixed the problem on the primary computer. However, after adding the file to the exceptions list on the second computer, the problem vanished. (At least, so far, so good...)
