Hello Steve and Bat Buddies...

I agree with you Steve, this should be an easier task. Same goes for parked
messages, and other message attributes in the 'Advanced' tab. Consider, however,
a somewhat easier alternative to using regexps... Search 'anywhere' for "@".
It's easier to understand why this will work for those of us who haven't yet
researched regexps (me). BUT...I still think TB should just allow no input for a
search string, and consider it 'any message'.

Steve> I recently wanted to search for all 'Flagged' msgs in an account
Steve> comprising about 30 folders. I entered F7 and selected "Current Account"
Steve> and "Message is Flagged" on the 'Advanced' Tab. My initial search showed
Steve> nothing. However I KNEW I had some flagged msgs. I looked further and
Steve> tried ".*" as the search string and set "Regular Expressions". Ah ha,
Steve> there were my msgs.

Steve> I'm not telling you this to be praised for my brilliance (!?) but rather
Steve> because, as an enthusiastic user of "The Bat!", I feel it needs more
Steve> "Ease of Use".

Steve> I think TB! is one of the best products I have seen. I want it to
Steve> succeed commercially for its developers. I am a programmer and
Steve> reasonably competent at using general purpose PC tools such as e-mail.
Steve> I'd like to pose the following questions followed by my opinion on
Steve> each:-

Steve> 1. Would the PC average user like to flag a msg and then search for all
Steve> such msgs? Yes.

Steve> 2. Does the PC average user know the term "Regular Expressions", let
Steve> alone know how to use them? No.

Steve> 3. Is searching for flagged msgs explained in the help file? No.

Steve> Please don't shoot me down for being critical. I hope this msg will be
Steve> seen as constructive criticism. I want to see TB! become hugely
Steve> successful in as wide a market as possible. I simply think there are
Steve> many fine features of TB! that could be "easier to use" and/or "better
Steve> explained in the help" for the average user.
