I personally have a different situation which results in repeated checks by
TB to an unreachable net - I have an account for my home email, and an
account for my work email. I dial in to my home ISP, and regularly dial
into work from home as well as connecting directly to my work net when I'm
at work. I have my work account set to periodic checking. Work has a
firewall, so my home account is unreachable on the work net, and my work
account is unreachable when I dial into my home ISP.
When I'm at home, dialed into my ISP, and working with my home account msgs
like I am now, TB is constantly trying to reach my work account in the
background and beeping at me every time it fails, which is distracting and
annoying as hell. It's an entirely futile effort on TB's part, and I'd sure
like to be able to set up something like "profiles" where I can tell TB
where I am and which accounts it should try to check.
Sure, when I'm dialed in from home I could dig through the work Account
Properties tree to uncheck the option for periodic checking, but why should
the UI punish me this way? Hopefully, version 2's toolbar customization
will let me bring something like this out to the UI, but will it really
have _per-account_ settings like this on the toolbar?
