Well, I dug a little on the Web and in newsgroups, and it seems this
happened to some people using Pegasus mail and Agent as well, though
rarely. The problem seems to be related to the way your computer
host name is set up in your TCP/IP properties.

The most useful information I came across is quoted below:

> The simple solution is to type in a proper host name for your
> computer into the hostname field within the DNS tab of the TCPIP
> properties within then Network Control Panel.  If DNS is disabled
> (meaning it most likely is obtaining DNS entries from the DHCP
> server), then the hostname is taken from the Computer Name field
> within the Identification tab of the Network Control Panel. Most
> likely, you currently have [01] specified in one of these two
> locations.  Fix it and the problem should go away.

According to suggested fix for Agent, I found some information in
Agent's help file that may explain why this happens to only some
email clients. It's because email programs use different system
function to obtain the name of the host PC itself when logging into
SMTP servers. Some use gethostname(), use the winsock function
WSAAsyncGetHostByAddr(). Maybe RIT wants to look into this a little.
