Win95 to 98 upgrades are fraught with problems. These are mostly driver
related but all sorts of weird, whacky, unpredictable and often
inexplicable things can happen. I don't think you'll get any insight
into your strange problem there Jack. :-/
I suggest a clean install to Win98 if you really need to get there. A
lot more hassle but definitely worth it.
