My recollection is that they were both implemented in the same version.
The only reason for having both is that some of us asked for the
flagging marker and RIT Labs tries to be accommodating. Aren't they
nice? I was one of the people asking for the flag as a quick way to mark
important messages. I personally dislike color coding and don't use or
feel the need to use it, but it's only a personal preference.
Karin, you can remove the Flag column from your messages list display
and forget about it, if you have no use for it.
