If you want this to be a permanent setting (so you don't have to
press "Shift" all the time), and you use IE (v.5 and up, not sure
about other versions) as your browser, then you may go to IE's
Advanced Options, and unckeck and option called "Reuse Windows for
launching shortcuts".
