TB is "scrolling over there" because the column that has the focus is
off-screen. By keeping the focus in one of the leftmost columns this
won't happen.

Only by shifting the focused column. Folder view settings are saved as
a) defaults, b) per folder (where not defaulting) and c) per main
window folder (where not defaulting).
