When I press F2 to check for new mail I clicked Details in the dialog
box and read that TheBat 1.46d was doing at the time.  I do not know if
the check mail data is logged anywhere as it would make a good reference
on this problem.

Here are my settings in Transport:

Send Mail
 SMTP Server: mail-p.mfm.com

Receive Mail
 Mail Server: mail-p.mfm.com
 User: <username>              Use protocol: IMAP4
 Password: <password>          [ ] Encrypt logon (APOP/MD5)

8-bit characters are treated
 (*) Without changes    ( ) as Quoted-printable  ( ) as Base64

Delivery:
 (*) Immediate             [ ] Combined delivery (send+receive)
 ( ) Deferred              [ ] Always ask for POP3 password
