Hello Rev.,
On Thursday, October 12, 2000 at 06:24:12 GMT -0500 (which was 4:24 AM
where I live) witnesses say Rev. Bob 'Bob' Crispen typed:
> TB! has just one case where it does this: it fails to display the

While I agree that it is a nuisance how would you propose for it to be
viewed? White space is supposed to be invisible...
> Oops -- one more thing where TB! thinks it knows better than you do.

That only happens if you use the Alt-L reformat option (and its right
justify and full justify siblings). I think the main reason for this
is the Alt-L engine is designed to handle switching between the
different justified modes. So you may not have entered all those
extra spaces. Since the editor shows you *exactly* what is going to
be sent, there is no way for it to distinguish manually entered spaces
and justification entered spaces. This is the same logic that forces
the auto-format option to require a blank line between paragraphs.
I'm not debating the merit of this decision, simply pointing out the
logic behind it. If you notice I use the double space between
sentences as well. I always thought the double space was to
distinguish between periods that end a sentence and periods that end
an abbreviation.
For example:
Dr. Smith was in today. He answered my question quickly.
^^ ^^^
Not a new New
sentence sentence
If you use Auto-Format instead of Alt-L, the re-spacing will not
occur. This paragraph was written with right justify set. I then
added a word with auto-format.
It seems auto-format removed the right justified settings. However,
note it did not remove the indent at the beginning of the paragraph.
I did not put that there manually.
I don't want to start the editor holy wars Marck once alluded to, I
just wanted to clarify TB's current functionality.
