Hi Jan,
On 21 October 2000 at 11:31:23 GMT -0400 (which was 16:31 where I
live) Jan Rifkinson wrote and made these points on the subject
of "2 quickies":
Ming-Li>> [...] To achieve what you want, the filter should be like
Ming-Li>> this:
Ming-Li>> Rule move messages to folder trash
Ming-Li>> Strings Location Present
Ming-Li>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] recipient no
Ming-Li>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] recipient no
Ming-Li>> Jan Rifkinson recipient no
JR> Rule move messages to folder trash
JR> Strings Location Present
JR> [EMAIL PROTECTED] | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Jan Rifkinson recipient no
JR> Are you saying that the way I *had* it originally set up

JR> Rifkinson?
You're thinking in English rules. The computer (and the filters) use
algorithmic logic.
Your rule said:
"If the recipient is *not* [EMAIL PROTECTED] *or* it is *not*
[EMAIL PROTECTED] *or* it is *not* Jan Rifkinson THEN move it to trash"
To fulfil that rule using computer logic it has to be all three
simultaneously - which it clearly /cannot/ be, so the test always
fails.
The correct logic should be "If the recipient is *not*
[EMAIL PROTECTED] *AND* it is *not* [EMAIL PROTECTED] *AND* it is
*not* Jan Rifkinson THEN move it to trash"
That's why you have to use AND as Ming-Li suggested.
